En este informe se presenta una síntesis de las ponencias más relevantes de las Jornadas de Investigación sobre el mundo rural y las instituciones de archivos documentales para preservar la memoria e identidad de los pueblos, celebradas el 29 y 30 de noviembre de 2024 en el centro cultural Cárcere Vella de Lugo, España. El congreso, titulado “A procura do pasado para armar o futuro. O rural e as institucións da memoria” (En busca del pasado para construir el futuro. Lo rural y las instituciones de la memoria), fue organizado por BAMAD Galicia y la Fundación Olga Gallego con el propósito de crear un foro de reflexión y conocimiento sobre la memoria rural. Esta memoria se concibe como un constructo multifacético (individual, colectivo, social, histórico, cultural y compartida) que abarca experiencias de las personas, el territorio, las pérdidas, los descubrimientos, los conflictos, los encuentros, y las migraciones. El objetivo final es que archivos, bibliotecas y museos actúen como agentes comunitarios, consolidando la memoria campesina al recuperar vínculos, restaurar, crear e reimaginar proyectos que resignifiquen el ámbito rural.

Abstract
This report presents a summary of the most relevant presentations from the Research Conference on the Rural World and Documentary Archive Institutions for Preserving the Memory and Identity of Peoples, held on November 29 and 30, 2024, at the Cárcere Vella Cultural Center in Lugo, Spain. The conference, entitled “A procura do pasado para armar o futuro. O rural e as institucionales da memoria” (In Search of the Past to Build the Future: The Rural and the Institutions of Memory), was organized by BAMAD Galicia and the Olga Gallego Foundation with the aim of creating a forum for reflection and knowledge on rural memory. This memory is conceived as a multifaceted construct (individual, collective, social, historical, cultural, and shared) that encompasses the experiences of people, territory, losses, discoveries, conflicts, encounters, and migrations. The ultimate goal is for archives, libraries, and museums to act as community agents, consolidating rural memory by recovering connections, restoring, creating, and reimagining projects that redefine the rural environment.
